Stephen Pollan heads our Firm's Employment Law and Benefits Practice. He is one of America's foremost personal finance mentors and a true "life strategist." Through his books, the media, and personal consulting, Mr. Pollan has given millions of people the tools to develop a blueprint for their professional and personal lives that enables them to meet their needs, achieve their goals and surpass their expectations.

His common sense and practical approach to careers and money have made him a favorite on the national lecture circuit for business and professional associations. While he is recognized as a provocative and thoughtful motivational speaker on personal finance and lifestyle, Mr. Pollan's business expertise has made him an engaging speaker on banking, credit and real estate issues as well.

Mr. Pollan's books are considered bibles by anyone making business, real estate or personal finance decisions. Currently working on THE UNHAPPINESS MYTH, which teaches us how to embrace and celebrate the life we have, Mr. Pollan is a prolific writer who has had many best sellers. His most recent books include: FIRE YOUR BOSS, a counterintuitive career guide to take control of your work life and boost your income while pleasing your boss. SECOND ACTS is a straightforward look at life strategies for making your dreams come true. LIVE RICH, a Wall Street Journal best seller, debunks the notion that fulfillment lies in people "loving" their jobs and careers. Mr. Pollan looks at work as a means to an end, NOT an end in itself. DIE BROKE, now in its 20th printing, was on The New York Times Best Seller List for 18 weeks and a Book-of-the-Month Club Selection. This unconventional book offers a comprehensive and practical message for financial happiness. Mr. Pollan appeared twice on Oprah to discuss the philosophy of DIE BROKE. LIFESCRIPTS, also a Book-of-the-Month Club Selection, literally scripts people for a variety of life changing events including asking for and getting a raise, negotiating the best deal on selling or buying a house, and thriving after being downsized.

Mr. Pollan's television credits include regular commentaries on the Nightly Business Report and a 5-year stint on CNBC as their Personal Finance Commentator. The Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning and the Wall Street Journal Reports use him frequently as their "guest expert" on consumer real estate, career coaching and personal finance. Locally, he has been a regular on WCBS-TV Channel 2 News and the principal financial expert on Women and Money, a WCBS-TV special broadcast. He also hosted a PBS series sponsored by WNET and American Express.

Throughout his career, Mr. Pollan has been a regular on the radio talk show circuit. Radio credits include his cohosting Money, Money, Money for WRKO and a 5-year stint doing The Business of Living, a daily radio commentary that aired as a Westwood One Radio Network broadcast with an audience of 40-50 million. He also is a frequent guest host on nationally syndicated radio talk shows where he sits in for many prominent radio talk show personalities (Bob Brinker, Bernard Meltzer, et al.)

Mr. Pollan is a contributing editor and financial columnist for Men's Health and editor-in-chief for AT&T Small Business Solutions published by Business Week. He has also been a contributing editor to Worth and Personal Finance Magazine and a regular columnist for Working Woman Magazine. He also has been a featured writer for many nationally recognized business and consumers' magazines including U.S. News and World Report, Fortune, Business Week, Money, Success, Good Housekeeping, Worth, Readers Digest, and New York Magazine.

His corporate roles include small business consultant to AT&T and spokesperson for American Express, Commercial Credit Corporation (Prime America), Irving Trust Company, Manufacturers Hanover Trust, Citibank, N.A., New England Life Insurance Company, New Zealand's telecommunications industry, and Intuit, a manufacturer of computer financial software. For additional information, see Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in Finance and Industry.

A practicing attorney for 45 years, Mr. Pollan formerly was a partner at Warshaw Burstein Cohen Schlesinger & Kuh located in New York City. He previously served as Senior Vice President of National Westminster Bank, CEO of an American Stock Exchange-listed closed-end investment company, Assistant Professor at C.W. Post University's School of Business, and Adjunct Professor at Marymount Manhattan College. He also served on the U.S. Small Business Administration Advisory Council and was a past co-chairman of United Nations Day under former President George Bush, Sr.

Mr. Pollan's wife, Corky, is a journalist at Gourmet Magazine. They have four children and 10 grandchildren.
